Duemler & Breiden, Hoehr-Grenzhausen

In 1883 Peter Duemler established his “Schwager Albert Breiden” ceramic factory in Hoehr Grenzhausen. Firstly, they produced simple dishes and Peter Duemler, himself, sold them to customers nearby and also to clients afar. In order to upturn the economy and get national and international acknowledgement they transformed their production completely and started producing ancient German ceramics. They tried to imitate original models from the German renaissance and Peter Duemler orientated himself completely in this collection. In 1895 new firm buildings were obtained. The number of employees rose and in 1900 1000 different articles were being offered. After World War I, ceramics for every day use  had a high market share and this lasted till the closure of the  ceramic factory during World War II. After its shutting down, there was an economic upspwing again. With a workforce of 300 employees, the ceramic industry reached its highest level ever. In spite of the extensive technical restoration, the firm had to be closed down again in 1992.
